The Liberian President Visits Tilburg University

SirleafFollowing her visit to Brussels, President Sirleaf spent today (9/11/2012) in the Netherlands where she met with Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, and dined with Their Royal Highnesses, the Prince of Orange and the Princess Máxima, who visited Liberian in 2010 on a three-day official visit as United Nations Secretary General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance and Development.

The Liberian President also held bilateral talks with the Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte.

Later today, President Sirleaf travels to Tilburg University, who is celebrating its 85th anniversary. As a guest of honour, she will join the celebration and deliver a lecture on “International Social Responsibility” as the University recognizes the 100th anniversary of the birth of the first female Minister of the Netherlands, Marga Klompé, an event co-chaired by the endowed chair, prof. Mirjam van Reisen.

President Sirleaf will be awarded an honorary degree, Doctor Honoris Causa, along with two academicians. The president is being recognized for her leadership and interest in both education and social responsibility.
